Strong Success Story: Using your Strength in Your Passions

Fitness for the sake of fitness is missing the point.  The role of fitness should be to enhance your day-to-day life.  As coaches, we love seeing our members/athletes setting PR’s in the gym, but we love it even more when those PR’s and acquired skills are translated into something bigger.

One of our members, Monica Rivera, shares her story about the role 202strong played in enhancing one of her passions in life.

Enter Monica….

Traveling has always been my passion. Discovering new cultures, understanding different societies, admiring nature’s beauty and just simply immersing myself into another country makes me the most happiest girl in the world. Traveling is also known as one of the best learning experiences one can ever have. You learn about others and most importantly you learn about yourself. You learn about your inner person and your limits.

In the last couple of years I have traveled to at least 5 countries and a handful of states. The memories I remember the most from these trips are those full of challenges and interesting events that happened during my trips and how I overcame them. Some of these stories involve a big deal of sore muscles and a very tired body… and how I always ended up reflecting about getting in better shape.

Last September, I joined 202strong. I had so many reasons for doing this… but the main one was because I wanted to feel better. I never thought this decision would also enhance and impact one of my biggest passions, traveling (amongst other areas of my life).

As you know, just a week ago I went to one of my top bucket list destinations, Iceland, land of fire and ice. This is the land of extreme and ever changing weather conditions. Needless to say it was a beautiful place and I had the time of my life and can’t wait to go back. But one of the best experiences I had on this trip was a discovering a new stronger body… my own body. During the trip I was so amazed at how I walked every day about 5 to 6 miles and never ever felt sore. I climbed a cliff in 12 minutes without feeling breathless and immediately after another cliff and felt great!  What a great feeling! I was amazed by the beauty of a magical place and amazed by what my own body was able to do. I fell in love with the whole experience.

This is inspiring! It inspires me to keep pushing myself towards my health goals: for a better nutrition and more consistency in my workouts and definitely more self discipline. These are my goals and I will continue to strive for them.

I thank 202strong for helping me get here. I’m so lucky to have found the amazing coaches I work with every day (You, Shannon, Danny, Nisha, Rob) They are all a blessing. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Cheers to a stronger body and endless traveling in our futures.
